Agree to Disagree [Podcast #39]

Michele and I don’t see eye to eye on this week’s podcast.  Facebook introduce real-money gambling: Michele says it’s just business.  I think it’s the end of civilisation as we know it.  Well, not exactly – but you get the picture! 🙂

We do agree that Katie Taylor is magnificent!  In London, her supporters broke loudness records in the ExCel Exhibition Centre.  And online the tsunami of streaming requests crashed RTE’s servers!  Overall, RTE report that its online coverage has been a success.  Indeed, their mobile apps have doubled in revenue in the past year.

We discuss some of the stories covered on technology.ie this week: the Data Protection Commissioner fights for your rights; free WiFi on buses & planes; Realex payments grow customer numbers by 74%; and a viral campaign for better shoes!

Conor O’Neill is pissed at Twitter, and pledges to invest in an alternative.  And we discuss the hacking of Mat Honan.  Should companies like Apple do more to protect against social engineering?  And is two-factor authentication the answer?

Technology.ie is brought to you by Blacknight, Ireland’s largest provider of domains and hosting.  Currently giving away .CO (and .ME) domains!
