The Irish Times reports that Facebook are planning to move to a new office near the Bord Gais Energy Theatre at Grand Canal Dock. The new premises will have room for 1000 more employees than are in their current offices at Hanover Quay. Although Facebook would not indicate if they had specific plans to increase headcount in Dublin, they said that the new building provided the opportunity to grow “in line with business needs”.
The new offices will be designed by Los Angeles based architect Frank Gehry who is also working on plans for their New York and London office as well as company HQ in Menlo Park, California. Interestingly, Gehry’s original design for the Silicon Valley office was deemed “too flashy” for Facebook, who asked him to make it “more anonymous” in line with the company’s desired image.
