Plaster casts have certainly changed since I broke my arm as a kid; now it seems plaster itself could be on the way out – and that’s not the only innovation on the way.
The Osteoid looks like Borg technology, but because it can be 3D printed to a custom fit for every patient it’s actually much kinder – and more comfortable – than traditional plaster casts. But the real innovation is its use of therapeutic ultrasound to improve bone healing by up to 80%!
