The AP Stylebook will be getting an update on June 1st.
In the 2016 edition there will be a number of changes that impact the internet. No longer will journalists be encouraged to write “Internet”, but instead they’ll be expected to use “internet”. The same will be true of “web page”, “the web” and “web browser”.
Language and its usage evolves over time. Up until a few years ago “email” was often written as “e-mail”, yet the hyphen has since been dropped.
We will lowercase internet effective June 1, when the 2016 Stylebook launches. #ACES2016 pic.twitter.com/vv53323GL6
