Carphone Warehouse have announced a new partnership today which allows them to offer Lycamobile to their customers.
With the addition of Lycamobile Carphone Warehouse are now able to offer Irish customers a choice of 6 different mobile networks.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much about Lycamobile, though I think I’d seen some advertising for them over the last few months, so here’s the “low down” (stolen directly from the press release):
Lycamobile is the largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) in the world that provides low-cost, high-quality international and national calls and has acquired over 30 million customers across 16 countries (UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Australia, France, Germany, Poland , Portugal and USA).
The brand was initially introduced in 2006 and in just over 7 years the company has become a main player in the prepay-sim market in every country it operates in. Its undeniable low cost international and national call service has proved popular with customers who wish to stay in touch with families and friends at home and across the world.
The company’s triumphs in the European market have been well documented and have ensured Lycamobile has greater coverage of the European population than any other mobile operator covering over 80% of the EU population.
In the Irish market Lyca seem to cater for both bill pay and pre pay customers and have a pretty attractive “all you can eat” plan for €29 / month which gives you unlimited everything in Ireland (ie. voice, data and text)
