Hailo, Ireland’s leading transport app, is advising customers to avoid delays and travel at off-peak times during the upcoming 48 hour Dublin Bus strike on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th September.
The company is anticipating strong demand for taxis during this time, so they are offering a discount to encourage users to travel at off-peak times where possible.
Taxis taken 6-7am and 10am-12 noon will be available at 50% off with special discount codes. The 50% discount codes will display in the Hailo app on Thursday and Friday morning.
Data from recent Luas strikes shows that demand was up by as much as 25%, from 7.30am – 9.30am on certain strike days, and the journey duration time increased by as much as 35% during the Luas strike at peak times. A similar surge is anticipated during the upcoming Dublin Bus strike and Hailo is offering a 50% discount before 7am and after 10am for Hailo users on both days of the strike to encourage off-peak travel. Using taxis through the Hailo app will also allow consumers to quicken their journey time by being able to travel in the bus lanes.
In addition to travelling off-peak there are a number of other ways Hailo users can ensure their journey is smooth during the surge in demand, including using Hailo Prebook to book a taxi in advance. During the recent Luas strikes, Hailo saw an increase in Prebook demand of 30-40%. On strike days, Hailo sees an on-average 30% increase in customers trying Hailo Prebook for the first time.
