Thanks to the folks in the style section at Irish site Evoke.ie for this infographic, reporting on Instagram’s influence on the fashion industry.
Some interesting points:
- In September 2015, when the major Spring 2016 fashion collections were shown, engagement on Instagram reached 44 million unique accounts and had 360 million interactions.
- The “Insta-Models” are akin to the “Supermodels” of the 80s and 90s in terms of popularity. They can earn €265,000/$300,000 on average per Instagram post.
This quote, in particular, offers food for thought:
“My generation have embraced social media in a big way, but I think we will only really see the full influence that Instagram carries once the younger generation who have grown up with it all of their lives start to have spending power” – Sarah Rutson, vice president of global buying at Net-a-porter.
