On Monday Twitter announced that they are testing a ‘Buy button’, with a limited introduction beginning in the US. Stripe, founded by the Collison Brothers from Limerick, is one of five companies providing payment services for the new Twitter feature.
On Tuesday, Apple revealed an NFC-based payment functionality for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. This combines Near Field Communications with biometrics using the phone’s fingerprint sensor and a tokenisation technology which keeps credit card numbers private.
Stripe has already integrated support for Apple Pay into its system.
These are major steps forward for digital payments technology, and Stripe is at the heart of them.
