karma-hotspotIf you travel to the US then Karma might be viable option for you.

It’s a wifi hotspot dongle with a difference. Not only does it give you access to the 4G network, but you can also earn bandwidth by sharing the hotspot and promoting the service to other users.

They’re calling it “social bandwidth”

But what about pricing?

The device costs $79 (plus shipping), which is comparable with other wifi hotspots.

Data costs $14 per GB and while there’s no discount for larger orders, the data never expires, so if you top up with a couple of gigs now you don’t have to use it immediately, which is a nice difference.

Another very cool concept is the “sharing” idea. While other hotspot solutions tap into the same data cap ie. if I have 1 gig allowance and someone uses 100 megs it comes off my account, Karma doesn’t. Each user that connects to a hotspot uses their own account AND you get free bandwidth for every new user you refer.
