Amazon Prime video homepage

Amazon’s Prime Video service launched in Ireland back in December of last year. With the introductory pricing of €2.99 / month for the first six months it’s hard to knock the service’s value, though, like NetFlix when it launched the range of TV shows and movies is a little lacking. Amazon, however, have announced that they are expanding the catalogue of content in the Irish market.

Here’s a couple of the highlights of what’s been added:

  • Outlander – 3 seasons
  • Vikings – 4 seasons
  • Ray Donovan – 3 seasons

And here’s the more complete list:

Black Sails – Starring Toby Stephens, the highly anticipated pirate adventure, BLACK SAILS, centres on the tales of Captain Flint and his notorious crew fighting for the survival of New Providence Island.

Extant – Academy Award® Winner Halle Berry stars in the serialized drama Extant, a mystery thriller about a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space.

Into the Badlands – A feudal society called Badlands, has emerged in the wake of civilization’s destruction. It’s uneasily divided among 7 Rival Barons. Each Baron enforces their iron rule with the aid of trained assassins known as Clippers. The most lethal is Sunny. Sunny rescues M.K, a teenage boy who has survived a deadly ambush. Sunny soon discovers that he harbours a dark secret…

Rogue – Starring Thandie Newton in a smart, complex character-led thriller, Rogue revolves around Grace, a morally and emotionally-conflicted undercover detective who is tormented by the possibility that her own actions caused her young son’s mysterious death.

The X Files – Starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny in the story of a young FBI agent is assigned watchdog duty over a fellow agent, but finds herself drawn into his investigations of paranormal and unexplained phenomena.

Vikings – Starring Travis Fimmel and Gabriel Byrne, the hit drama series returns for a gripping fourth season. Season three culminated with the extraordinary battle in Paris, where Ragnar seized victory from the jaws of defeat – but still returns to Kattegat dangerously ill. Thoughts of his death galvanize the forces who seek to succeed him as king, including his wife Queen Aslaug.

Casual – After a series of bad dates and their parents’ recoupling, Alex, Valerie and Laura rebuild their lives. New friends and romances distract them from a recurring history of dysfunction.

Life in Pieces – James Brolin, Dianne Wiest and Colin Hanks head an all-star cast in this hilarious new series that features four short stories each week about the members of one eccentric family!

Sons of Anarchy – Popular US biker drama that follows the lives of the SAMCRO crew as they find themselves involved in gangs, gun violence and deals with corrupt politicians.

Ray Donovan – Set in the sprawling mecca of the rich and famous, the drama stars Liev Schreiber in the title role, the man called in to make the city’s celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls most complicated and combustible situations go away.

The Bureau – Within the French secret service, one department knows as the DGSE manages the missions of all undercover operatives working under fake identities to identify intelligence sources. After 6 years undercover in Syria, agent “Malotru” is called back home. He will face the difficulty to forget his undercover identity, the disappearance of a colleague in Algeria & the training of a young girl.

If you’re considering cutting the cable and getting away from Sky or one of their competitors it’s becoming increasingly easier, though we still don’t have quite as many choices as they do on the other side of the Atlantic (or even across the channel when you’re looking at Amazon Video!)
