When Netflix first launched in the Irish market it was a streaming only service. However they introduced the option to download films and TV shows on your mobile devices back in 2016. I love the feature when I’m travelling. I’ll load up my iPad with TV episodes and films before a long flight or when I’m going somewhere with very patchy internet connectivity.

A few days ago Netflix started rolling out some enhancements to the download feature. Now when you have finished watching a tv episode it’ll prompt you to delete it from your device immediately. They’ll also try to download new episodes as well.

For privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded.

Cameron Johnson, Director of Product Innovation commented ‘We know how annoying it can be to go through all your apps and delete files you no longer need; we also understand that when it comes to Netflix, the faster you can get to the next episode you want to watch, the better. Whether it is smart downloading or viewing a mobile preview, we realize the best part of Netflix is connecting with the stories you will love in an easier and more fun way.”

The new feature is being made available for Android first.
