NSFW – National Broadband Fantasy [Podcast #42]

Fast Broadband, Minister? Easy Peasy! This week’s podcast contains offensive language.  It’s not safe for work and not suitable for kids (or people of quality and breeding – you know who you are).  In our defence … actually – we don’t have a defence.  We weren’t even drinking – but speaking of drink, there’s an idea.

Being a Kerryman, I blame those two Cork lads for leading me astray.  Damien Mulley joins Michele and me on this week’s show to discuss among other things, the new National Broadband Plan.

“Plan” is not the name I would have given it.  Damien says Minister Pat Rabbitte is better than his predecessors: the kind of guy who aggressively pursues his targets.  I think he needs to be the kind of guy who can spin straw into gold if he’s going to give everyone minimum 30Mbps broadband within 3 years.

Michele is excited by the new range of Logitech music devices with built-in music services.  We discuss Apple’s court victory over Samsung.  Facebook and CNN Launch Elections Insights and President Obama goes on Reddit and says: Ask Me Anything!

Damien talked about the upcoming Irish Web Awards which he is running for the 5th time.  Nominations are open!

After that, it was all downhill.  Check out Corporate Bollox on Facebook!  Agus Gaeilge ar leathanach Facebook an NFL!

Technology.ie is brought to you by Blacknight, Ireland’s largest provider of domains and hosting, who’ve just announced they’re building their own datacentre!  Also this week, they invite you to fly the Irish flag, with a special offer on .ie domains.
