Brought to you by Blacknight, it’s The Technology.ie Podcast, Episode 8, with Conn Ó Muíneacháin and Michele Neylon. Our guest this week is Security Consultant Brian Honan.
But first, let’s talk about .XXX. Michele decides it’s time to have that chat with Conn: everything he’s ever wanted to ask about the newest Top Level Domain but was afraid to ask.

In Part 2 of the show, Brian Honan joins us to talk about IT security. He says that technical people are not immune to security risks, as they are often more focused on the technical solution than on the the dull workaday requirements of security vigilance.
Brian points out that hackers and criminals are sharing and selling information about vulnerabilities and people’s identities and he advocates that the community needs to take a similar approach in defence of security. That’s one of the reasons why he set up up IRISS-CERT, the Irish Reporting and Information Security Service. IRISS-CERT is a voluntary organisation which, with the help of Blacknight and other sponsors, provides security information and updates, free to the Irish IT community. The annual IRISSCON conference is on the 23rd November in the D4Berkeley Court Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin, with an impressive lineup of international security experts and that’s free too!
Also in this week’s show, Blacknight announce their new Cloud Hosting products.
